Main technical data

The Sassari-Olbia road is the main road connecting the east and west coasts of northern Sardinia: it connects two important cities in the north of the island, two ports (Olbia and Porto Torres) and two airports (Olbia and Alghero).
Section 1, covering a distance of around 9,300 km, is being developed in the Ploaghe and Ardara areas of Sassari and consists of three split-level junctions (Ploaghe, turnaround and Ardara).
The SS 597 works call for the construction of a dual carriageway, each lane 3.75 m wide, a central reservation of 2.5 m, an external verge of 1.75 m, an internal verge of 0.5 m and a guard rail on the verge of 1 m, with a total area used of 27.5 m.

The six major works expected are as follows:

  1.  Flyover connecting Secondary Road SR2 at the point 4+034 (Single-span flyover in prestressed concrete approximately 36 m long);
  2.  Bridge PS4-1 “Funtana de Chercu” Secondary Road (Single-span bridge in prestressed concrete approximately 18 m long);
  3.  Bridge PS4-2 “Funtana de Chercu” Main Road at the point 4+573 (Single-span bridge in prestressed concrete approximately 18 m long);
  4. Turnaround Flyover at the point 6+447 plan (Single-span flyover in prestressed concrete approximately 33 m long);
  5.  Rail Flyover at the point 8+309 (Single-span flyover in prestressed concrete approximately 18 m long);
  6. Ardara Junction Flyover at the point 11+283 (Single-span flyover in prestressed concrete approximately 35 m long).
